12-23-03 I just wanted to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge and personally thank you for the committment you have shown the Del Rio community and the positive role you model to the young ladies who are fortunate enough to be one of "your girls", your local and state queens. So many other beauty pageants focus only the glitz and glamour of their queens. You always seem to see these queens in tiaras and evening gowns attending socail functions and formal parties. As the pictures posted on this website attest, "your girls" are so much more than just a pretty face. They are shining examples of what a beauty queen should be. They are active participants in their community. They lend their time and hard work to so many charitable organizations in Del Rio and surrounding areas. When they travel out-of-town, they are outstanding ambassadors for Del Rio. These beautiful, articulate, caring young women prove that Del Rio is truly the Queen City. The credit for this belongs to the both of you, their dedicated directors. I have had the honor of knowing you these past three years and privilege of placing my beloved daughter in your care, first, as Miss Del Rio Teen USA and now as Miss Texas Teen Latina. You have treated my daughter with loving care and are committed to reinforcing the values her father and I have tried to instill. "Service is the rent we pay for living." This is a quote Alyssa's grandfather wrote to her father on the day he graduated from medical school. I believe it to be the value you both live by. Your service to your queens, to the families who entrust you with their beloved daughters and to the community that you call home, is beyond reproach and unparalleled. My daughter is a better person because she has had you in her life. In fact, all of these lovely young women are better people for having known you. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, for the countless hours you spend away from your own family to help others, and for the service you provide this community. I hope that others will be inspired by your actions and become active participants in this community. I wish the happiest of holidays and a prosperous new year. Brown Plaza Association - 5 de Mayo Pageant 8-2-06 As a young woman who has competed in over 15 pageants, I'd have to say that Claudia and Sammy Lopez are the most caring and thoughtful directors a queen or pageant delegate could ever ask for! They truly care about each and every contestant and treat each person as though they were already the queen. Claudia and Sammy go out of their way to get to know each girl and ensure that pageants are what they should be, a way for young women to celebrate femininity, culture, confidence and the many wonderful things that females are blessed with. From the bottom of my heart, I can say that Claudia and Sammy invest so much what a queen and delegates experience is in their pageants and as a titleholder. Claudia and Sammy make it possible for every girl to feel beautiful, inside and out, and for young women to involve and engage themselves in their communities and really make a difference. As a reigning queen and titleholder for the Innermind Connection, I can not say enough good things about Claudia and Sammy Lopez. My experience in competing and winning the title for Miss Texas LoneStar Latina has been incredibly enriching and an opportunity for me to grow as a person. This would not have been possible without incredible directors like Claudia and Sammy Lopez. Every year they continue to produce amazing opportunities for young women like myself and I am incredibly grateful for that.
