Texas Lone Star Latina and Dreams of Crowns Mini Nationals Congratulations to Janelle Vera from Del Rio,
Laura Gonzales from Mercedes, Carmen Gutierrez from Del Rio and Tess Casares from Del Rio on winning the Miss Texas Lone Star

Over 60 Delegates Grace the Stage as the Mayor Efrain Valdez Proclaims November
9, 10 and 11, 2007 Miss Texas Lone Star Latina Weekend. The Innermind
Connection produced 2 back to back pageants and a total of 460 canned goods were donated to the Amistad Family Violence and
Rape Crisis Center. $8,000.00 in scholarships provided by Sul Ross State University
were awarded to Miss Pre Teen Lone Star Latina - Janelle Vera (Del Rio), Miss Teen Texas Lone Star Latina - Laura Gonzales
(Mercedes), Miss Texas Lone Star Latina - Carmen Gutierrez ( Del Rio) and Ms. Texas Lone Star Latina - Tess Casares (Del Rio) on Stage. All winners in both pageants
received a 1 year Modeling contract with Linda Woods.
During the Proclamation presentation Mayor Efrain Valdez also
presented Stephany Cavazos - Miss
Southwest Texas Teen USA (who competes Thanksgiving weekend in Houston) a Recognition Plaque and the Women of Merit Award
for 10 yrs of Modeling, Pageantry and Academic Achievements. Mayor Efrain Valdez, Blanca Torres and Adriana Galvan judged
the Best in Costume competition Saturday at Plaza del Sol Mall. Winners include Pre Teen Division - Brazil Costume De Angel Casarez, Teen Division - Brazil - Rosanna Ramon and Miss Division winner was Paulina
Escamilla - Spain.
In the Mini Nationals Best in Costume winners were: Japan - Avery Teague, China - Taylor Lauderdale, China - Nicole Linda Mestas, Reyna Haynes - Africa and USA - Viviana Santos. Special Awards in the Pre Teen division went to : Jessica Thomas from Laredo- Most Photogenic
and Best in Evening Gown, Best in Interview - Sabrina Salinas from San Antonio, Material Girl Award
went to Carmen Gutierrez, Laura Gonzales and Desarae
Cardenas, Most Photogenic in the Pre Teen division Best in Evening Gown and Best Interview awards went to Janelle Vera. Dearae Cardenas also received the Most
Patriotic Outfit. Laura Gonzales from Mercedes took home the crown and Best Interview in Teen division as well as the Most
Patriotic and Best Evening Gown awards. In the teen division Krista Celedon was
awarded the Most Photogenic.
Every girl took home Mary Kay make up bags compliments
of Janice and Silvia, Jewelry goodie bags from Material Girls, Diamond was present to get the girls ready. Back Stage Directors
included: Ronnie Jo Soto, Lori Carrillo, Rudi Gutierrez. During the Evening gown competition the delegates were escorted by
Memo Hernandez and Carlos Coronado. The Mini Me's took home the same gifts as the older delegates plus cotton candy, princess
goodie bags and candy bags. Entertainment number was performed by Miss Southwest Texas Teen USA - Stephany
Cavazos. Special Thanks to Linda Cavazos and Rudy Casares for designing the
Stage and La Quinta, Robert Garza, Val Verde Home Nurses, BFCU and the Apothecary and Sul Ross State University.
Del Rio Prepares for the 6th Annual Miss Texas Lone Star Latina
It's that time of the year again! Pageant season has begun, in the Queen City of the Rio Grand. Just like fishermen from around the world know Del Rio because of
our wonderful Amistad Lake Bass Tournaments, Delegates
from all over the Lone Star State have began sending in registration forms for the State pageant. Pageants are the new sport of the century.
The city anticipates their arrival with a Welcome Vip Forum Reception that
includes City Officials and other dignitaries, to be held on Friday, November 9, 2007. The
Women of Merit Conference will be held on Saturday, November 10th and the final pageant competition will be held Sunday, November
11, 2007 at 2 pm at in Beautiful and Historical Downtown Del Rio's Paul Poag Theater for the Performing Arts.
What do girls get out of this, you might ask? Besides Scholarships,
Focus, Great Skills that will remain with them for the rest of their life. Success comes from being able to grow stronger and learn from times in which we are disappointed.
Even girls who do not ever win a pageant, stand out for the rest of their life (where ever they go). Said Claudia Lopez.
The Competition is divided into 4 sections: Panel Interview, Swimsuit for Miss, Fashion Wear for Pre Teen,
Teens and Ms., Evening Gown and On Stage Question. Pre Teens Must be at least 11-14. Applicant must not turn older than 14
as of Sept 1, 2007, Teens Must be at least 15-18. Applicant must not turn older than 18 as of Sept 1, 2007, Miss Must be at
least 19-29 years of age and Ms Ages 18 & over.
" After our state-level competition," Lopez said. "Winners will have the
opportunity to advance to national competition.""We are accepting applications for delegates to represent their city,
town or area where there are no preliminary competitions," she said.
