Frequently Asked Questions

Miss Val Verde Pageant

1.  Is it true that it is a FREE ENTRY? That is correct, we believe every girl deserves a chance to do at least one pageant and all we ask is that you help sell 15 tickets to the show. Many times other girls need more tickets, so you can help sell each others tickets and it usually works out pretty good. Sometimes parents think entry fees are so expensive and we just want to make it easy.

2.  What does my daughter need for the competition? She will need to provide her own Interview Suit, Fashion Wear, Evening Gown and Opening # Outfit. But do not worry, we have seen many girls rent, borrow or make their own costumes. We even had a girl once win in an off the rack dress that cost her $30.00. She will also need Clear Pageant shoes.

3.  Who is allowed at practices? Only the delegates. No family or friends are allowed. Girls need to focus and practice all that they can.

4.  Can my daughter have a hair dresser and make up artist in the back the day of the pageant? No one should have to pay for hair and make up. Some girls can't afford it either. We want the delegates to learn how to do their own hair and make up. If you advance to any State level pageant, chances are you will have to do your own anyways.

5.  What is Full Dress Rehersal? This usually happens the Thursday before the pageant. It is the day we have a run through of the entire show and our sound and lighting techs and emcee have a chance to work on last minute details. Girls have a chance to time their changes in between scenes.Girls need to bring in the actual outfits they will were the day of the pageant. During dress rehersal we also judge special awards, such as Best in Evening Gown, Swimsuit, and Fashion Wear. These have nothing to do with who wins the actual pageant. They are judged by a different panel of judges. If a girls dress is not ready, she is told a head of time she will not be judged for the category she is missing her actual competition outfit for. This is MANDATORY.

6.  How many years have producers of this pageant been around? Claudia, competed in various pageants while in high school and also, advanced to the Miss Texas Teen. Claudia has been involved in pageant for over 17 years total and directing for 10 years.

7.  Who are your sponsors? This pageant is indepently produced by the Innermind Connection. It is not run by the city or county. Some of our sponsors this year included, BFCU, Sammy Lopez, Sammy Lopez, Sammy Lopez and Sammy Lopez.

Mini Me Pageants

1. What is a Mini Me? A Mini Me is a younger queen. This is a children's pageant.

2. What is the Entry Fee? We use to have a flate rate entry of $135.00. Sometimes parents think that is too much. We do offer payment plans that best fit you. However, this past year we had a pageant at a local theater and we were able to have a free entry and ask that parents sold tickets for the show. Other times depending on location of the pageant we will have a different entry fee. We always try to keep it as low as we possibly can.

3.  What does my daughter need to wear for competition? Our Mini Me pageants consisit of Fashion Wear and Party or Formal Wear. Some parents go all out others do not. Some use props others are more casual. Some wear dresses their kids have used in weddings as flower girls and others have custom made dresses. It is all up to you the parent to come up with what ever you feel comfortable with. We are not a specifically Glizty and Glamour pageant. But most of our mini winners advance to other pageant systems and come back with their new ideas and it is all up to the parents.

4.  Does my child have to wear make up or hair pieces? We do not tell you what to put on your child or how to do their hair or if they should wear make up. Every parent thinks different and some like it some do not. Again, all we do is tell you the parent, anything you feel comfortable with you can go with. We do not promote fakeness and or are not responsible for anyone elses actions as far as how they dress their child. Judges are told that children may be wearing the outfit of their choice and to remember that the personality counts a lot too. Lots of pageant moms know that in bigger kids pageants hair pieces and some make up is needed or allowed. We have no rules as far as hair and make up. If a parent chooses to put make up and a hair piece or extension on their child, that is their choice. Some parents like the natural look and others like glam.

5. What happens after she wins? After she wins, she joins our Queens for a Cause local group. We do a lot of community service and do visit nursing homes on a regular basis. Parades, appearances and other events are all optional.

6. What does she recieve if she wins? A crown, Sash and usually a trophy and or a plaque. Every contestant gets a gift for participating. You keep your own crown and sash.

7. What age group does my daughter fall under?  Either 6 months - 18 months, 19 months - 36 months (1 1/2 - 3 yrs), 4 - 6, 7 - 10 yrs.
